JFE Steel increases titanium plate and titanium clad steel for condenser pipe, which is steam cooling system of power plant. The cumulative sales reach near 5,000 tonnes. The domestic top titanium plate maker with around 400 tonnes of annual sales tries to keep the position.
Condenser pipe is made by titanium plate or titanium clad steel due to the corrosion resistance for seawater. JFE Steel launched titanium plate in 1985 and titanium clad steel in 1986. The firm got more than 100 orders for condenser. The shipment is mainly for Europe for titanium plate and mainly for domestic market and China and Asian countries for titanium clad steel. Titanium has 60% of specific weight of steel along with the corrosion resistance as platinum. Titanium clad steel has also strength of carbon steel and the strength allows thin gauge to reduce cost. The firm can make maximum 4 meters wide plate for the products. The firm can offer better size accuracy and flatness through the plate mill with 9,000 tonnes of pressure. The firm tries to improve the quality and economical advantage for sales expansion.
