Osaka Steel to Expand Export in F2012

Osaka Steel plans to increase the steel export rate by 2 percentage points to 11% in fiscal 2012 started April from fiscal 2011. The firm targets 19% export rate for shapes, which is 3 points higher than fiscal 2011. The firm improves the export ability through wider offshore certifications.

The firm has tried to expand export in years when domestic demand decreases. The firm entered into cooperation with OneSteel of Australia in 2009 to export inverted angle, I-beam and rail. The firm also got offshore standards including Korean Standards, European EN standards, Singapore standards and Hong Kong standards.

The firm increased the export rate to 9% in fiscal 2011 from 7% in fiscal 2010 and 5% in fiscal 2009. The export rate increased to 16% for shapes in fiscal 2011 from 12% in fiscal 2010 and 9% in fiscal 2009.

The firm provides mainly shapes for Asian countries along with North America and Oceania countries. The firm also export rail, flat bar and concrete reinforcing steel bar.
