Tokyo Steel Freezes Price for All Steel Items

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on Monday the firm leaves steel selling price unchanged for all items for distributors for May order. The firm also froze the price for all items for March order while the firm kept the plate price for April. The firm recognizes better steel supply balance but domestic steel production was high in March for additional price hike. The firm eyes additional price hike June order or later.

The firm keeps adjusting the production to the demand level. The firm plans 290,000 tonnes of production in April. The production is 140,000 tonnes of hot rolled coil including 70,000 tonnes at Tahara plant, 85,000 tonnes for H-beam and 35,000 tonnes for plate. The firm plans around 50,000 tonnes of export.

The firm sees export order is strong from Asia and Middle and Near East. The firm gets export order at FOB US$ 670-680 per tonne for hot coil and US$ 780-790 for H-beam. The firm holds new offer through June when the firm secured the order through June production.

The firm stops sales of larger size concrete reinforcing steel bar for May order due to shutdown of Takamatsu plant by end March. The firm doesn’t offer rebar with 35 and 38 millimeters diameter while the firm keeps selling rebar with 22, 25, 29 and 32 mm of diameter.
