Nisshin Steel Builds Up Global Stainless Supply Network

Nisshin Steel, Japanese major stainless steel maker, builds up global supply network by 6 group production bases in Japan, China, Malaysia, Spain, the U.S.A. and South Africa. The firm tries to cultivate the market demand for high quality products and to expand profit. The firm enhances partnerships with Acerinox in Spain, Ball Stainless in Malaysia and Ningbo Baoxin Stainless Steel in China. The firm also seeks synergies of integration with Nippon Metal Industry. Nisshin Steel aims to become no.1 global stainless steel maker as total power.

Acerinox has 3 plants in Madrid, the U.S.A. and South Africa, producing crude steel at 3.5 million tonnes per year. Nisshin Steel holds 15% shares in Acerinox and sends a managing director. Acerinox and Nisshin Steel established a joint cold rolling stainless maker, Bahru Stainless in Malaysia. The JV company will start commercial production at 200,000 tonnes per year in 2012. The capacity is expected to double to 400,000 tonnes in 2013.

Ningbo Baoxin is a joint company with Bao Steel, Nighbo City, Nisshin Steel and Japanese warehouses. The company currently expanded cold rolling capacity by 10% to 660,000 tonnes per year as well as reinforced bright annealing equipment for high quality products.

Nisshin Steel will integrate with Nippon Metal Industry and establish Nisshin Steel Holdings in October 2012. Domestic crude steel output capacity will increase to 1 million tonnes per year including Nisshin Steel’s Shunan works and Nippon Metal Industry’s Kinuura works.

Nisshin Steel also aims full utilization of 3 coil centers in China, one coil center of Acerinox in Malaysia and 2 secondary processing bases of Nippon Metal Industry in Singapore and Malaysia.
