Hitachi Metals to Launch Forging Processing at Yasugi

Hitachi Metals adds machinery processing plant for air plane parts in Yasugi plant in Shimane for 1.869 billion yen to start operation in September. The firm builds new plant with around 2,970 square meters of floor space for processing and rents building with 1,500 square meters of space from the group company, HMY in Yasugi for inspection.

Hitachi Metals processes forging products at the new plant as downstream operation of Japan Aeroforge in Okayama, which is forging joint venture of Hitachi Metals, Kobe Steel and IHI. The joint venture can make large forging products at 50,000 tonnes press machine to serve air plane and power plants. Hitachi Metals processes some of the forging especially for complicated products.

The firm tries to follow growing demand for large forging products through the downstream operation. The firm expects the better supply chain through the downstream will contribute to the total competitiveness.
