Sumitomo Light Metals’ Thai Subsidiaries Return to Normal Operation

Sumitomo Light Metal Industries announced on Thursday the productive subsidiary, Sumikei Techno (Thailand) recovered to ordinary operation this month after the suspension since October 2011 due to the flood disaster. The other group company, NALCO (Thailand) is also expected to enter full capacity operation in this month though the operation has suspended since 4Q 2011.

Sumikei Techno (Thailand) produces aluminium alloy pipes and aluminium extrusion profiles in Rojana industrial park, Ayutthaya. The plant was forced to suspend operation since October due to the flood. The productive operation recommenced in March and recovered to full in April.

Sumitomo Light Metal had announced in August 2011 Sumikei Techno (Thailand) constructs an additional productive line for multi-channel aluminium pipe applied to automotive heat exchangers and starts the operation in March 2012. The firm partially reviewed the plan due to the flood. The location is changed to 304 industrial park in Prachin Buri where there is no large river. The operation is expected to commence in September 2012.

NALCO (Thailand) produces aluminium and copper head exchangers in Navanakorn industrial estate, Pathumthani. The operation has suspended since the disaster while the plant recommenced in February. The factory is expected to enter full operation in April.
