H-Beam Dealers to Raise Reselling Price Offer in Tokyo

H-beam market price would increase from 72,000-74,000 yen per tonne for base size around Tokyo. Nippon Steel announced total 5,000 yen price hike and other makers try to increase the selling price. The dealers are still watching market situation under slow demand and overstock. They could increase the reselling price later the month when Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announces the new price.

Steel structure demand around Tokyo is 117,800 tonnes, which represents 36% of Japanese demand. The demand recovers around Tokyo at higher pace than other areas. The dealers, however, are still cautious when the construction activity is slow partly due to shortage of construction workers.

The dealers’ H-beam shipment decreased by 4.4% to 16,692 tonnes in March from February, according to group of the dealers around Tokyo. The dealers’ H-beam stock increased by 6.6% to 45,400 tonnes at end of March, according to Tokiwa-kai, which is group of the distributors dealing Nippon Steel’s products.
