Nikkei MC Aluminium Eyes Production Base in India, Indonesia

Nikkei MC Aluminium, which is secondary alloyed aluminium making joint venture of Nippon Light Metal and Mitsubishi Corporation, tries to build production base in India and Indonesia. The firm studies potential joint venture with local maker in India while the firm would provide technical support to Indonesian maker. The firm tries to expand the offshore sales by following growing demand for automobile.

The firm tries to realize new investment for offshore operation. The firm already started talk with local makers in India and Indonesia.

The firm is requested by Indian transplants of Japanese automakers. Nikkei MC Aluminum (Thailand) studies special alloy export to Indian users. Nikkei MC Aluminium expects Indian production base could secure local demand for high grade products when Indian makers cannot make high grade products.

Japanese major automakers already have local production bases in India while major automotive parts makers also have production bases. Their expansion of local bases could increase the alloy demand.

Nikkei MC Aluminium talks with Indonesian alloy makers for potential technical support. The firm expects long term growth in local automobile production as second largest automobile market after Thailand.
