Japan Electric Wire Shipment to Increase by 2.2% for F2012

Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association announced on Wednesday the domestic shipment of copper electric wire by around 130 members will increase by 2.2% to 695,000 tonnes in copper volume for fiscal 2012 starting in April from fiscal 2011. The association sees the shipment is firm for construction and automobile. The association sees the optical fiber cable shipment will decrease by 8.6% to 7.007 million kilometers core, which is the lowest level since fiscal 2000.

The association sees the copper electric wire shipment will reach 300,000 tonnes in copper volume for construction for fiscal 2012. The volume recovers 300,000 tonnes for the first time 2 since fiscal 2008. The association sees the shipment will increase for building in the major earthquake damaged area. The shipment for automobile will recover 70,000 tonnes for the first time since fiscal 2009 due to the restart of Japanese governmental subsidy for environment friendly vehicle.

The association sees the optical fiber cable shipment will decrease by 12.2% to 5.373 kilometers core for public telecommunication including shipment for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone group. The association sees the shipment will decrease when NTT group reduced target of optical communication service contract.
