Topy Industries to Carry Out New Advancement of Toyohashi Factory

Topy Industries announced on Tuesday the firm replaces and advances steelmaking facilities at Toyohashi factory, Japan. The firm invests approximately 28 billion yen to renew aged facilities including steelmaking electric furnace, continuous casting line and factory building. The renewal works will start in March 2013 toward the commercial operation start in April 2015.

An electrical furnace capacity will increase to 200 tonnes from present 120 tonnes by the advancement. New continuous casting facilities can produce billet for steel bar in addition to the current item, bloom for shape steel. Toyohashi factory will be able to eliminate billet procurement from third parties. Existent steelmaking facilities will be suspended when new facilities enter operation. Topy Industries doesn’t replace rolling facilities this time. Thus productive items won’t change.

The factory’s steel output is projected to reach 94,000 tonnes per month only by night operations compared with present 70,000 tonnes per month by day and night operations. Toyohashi factory will shift to night operation when electricity supply is shortening in Japan. Electricity consumption rate of the new facilities is expected 10% lower than the present facilities. Electricity cost is expected to decrease by 24%, shifting to night operation.

Topy Industries holds global top class shares by many steel products for transporting machines such as construction machines, ultra large damp trucks for mines, trucks and buses. Meanwhile, Toyohashi factory has been aged and the output capacity has been limitied.
