Sojitz and Fuji Electric Accept Second Rectifier Package Order from EMAL

Sojitz Corporation and Fuji Electric cooperatively announced on Tuesday they accepted an order for the world largest rectifier package from Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), the world major aluminium smelter in UAE. The order value is 10 billion yen. The completion is scheduled in December 2013.

EMAL is a fifty-fifty company between Dubai Aluminium and Abu Dhabi’s governmental investing company, Mubadala Development Company. The firm started production in December 2009 with initial output capacity at 750,000 tonnes per year. The second-phase capacity expansion is ongoing. The expansion works are expected to complete in 2014 and the output capacity reaches 1.4 million tonnes.

Sojitz and Fuji Electric will deliver rectifier package which is used in the electrolysis process of alumina. Fuji Electric is totally responsible for equipment production, installment and test run. Sojitz and Fuji Electric had accepted an order for the first rectifier package with annual output capacity at 700,000 tonnes in EMAL at approximately 15 billion yen in 2007.
