Metal One’s New Mexico Service Center Reaches Normal Operation

Japanese major steel trader, Metal One Corporation announced on Wednesday wholly owned steel service center, Coilplus Mexicana is entering commercial operation. Metal One eyes potential service centers expansion to meet growing steel demand in Mexico.

The company is located near Monterrey of northeastern Mexico. The around US$ 18 million plant with annual 240,000 tonnes of processing capacity at each large slitter and large leveler started the operation in June 2011.

Coilplus Mexicana is Metal One’s second coil center affiliate in Mexico after Aguascalientes based Nicometal Mexicana.

Mexicana automobile output increased to 2.56 million units in 2011 and the output is increasing. The demand for flat rolled steel processing and trading is increasing when offshore manufacturers build transplants in Monterrey.
