Nippon Steel Encourages Steel Pipe Pile Use in Vietnam

Nippon Steel announced on Tuesday the firm held seminar for steel pipe pile using technology in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh on February 21 and 23. The seminar encouraged around 450 persons from government, universities and general contractors to use competitive steel pile applications. Nippon Steel appeals advantage of the local supply through the steel pipe pile and steel pipe sheet pile making subsidiary, Nippon Steel Pipe Vietnam, which started the operation in 2011.

Nippon Steel held several times of seminars for construction steel products in Vietnam since November 2009. The firm focused on steel pipe pile and steel pipe sheet pile this time to encourage the use.

The demand of steel pipe pile and steel pipe sheet pile is estimated at 50,000-60,000 tonnes per year in Vietnam. The demand is around 400,000 tonnes in Southeast Asia and Australia. Some estimates indicate the demand will increase to 1.5 times in 5 years. Nippon Steel tries to stimulate construction steel demand in Vietnam through the promotion to local interest.
