Japan Electronic Parts Shipment Drops by 9% in December

Japanese electronic parts shipment decreased by 9% to 254.7 billion yen including shipment from offshore transplants in December from a year earlier, according to Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association. The shipment decreased for 12 months in a row. The shipment decreased by 6% to 98.1 billion yen for domestic users.

The total passive parts shipment decreased by 16% to 87.3 billion yen in December from a year earlier. The shipment decreased to less than 90 billion yen for the first time since 77.5 billion yen in May 2009. The capacitor shipment decreased by 20% to 48.9 billion yen.

The connecting parts shipment decreased by 12% to 63.3 billion yen in December from a year earlier. The connector shipment decreased by 5% to 36 billion yen, which decreased smaller in the category due to recovery of Japanese automobile makers’ output. The switch shipment decreased by 20% to 26.3 billion yen.

The transducer shipment increased from a year earlier for 4 months in a row through December. The shipment increased by 7% to 31.8 billion yen for small motor and by 21% to 16.8 billion yen for audio and visual parts.
