Hyundai Steel to Hike Rebar and Shaped Steel Export Prices

Hyundai Steel decided the export price hike of rebar and shaped steel by average US$ 30 per tonne effective for April shipment. They started the price hike offer on March 6. The firm also examines additional price hike.

The latest offer price for H-beam is CFR US$ 830 per tonne to Southeast Asia and CFR US$ 850 to Middle East. The firm set the minimum price level at FOB US$ 800 to secure profits. The firm plans to advance export negotiations putting weight on the price.

The firm raises the export offer price for rebar to US$ 720 per tonne to Singapore. The firm estimates domestic rebar sales could increase since price negotiations for March shipment were closed early. Then the firm cautiously sorts profitable orders in export.

Steel makers in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand are currently raising steel prices. Hyundai Steel considers additional export price hike is necessary when European financial crisis is expected to settle down.
