Tokyo Steel Gains Higher Export Price

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing is getting targeted higher export price for April and May shipment. Some of the order is FOB US$ 700 per tonne for hot rolled coil and US$ 800 for H-beam. The firm gets more export order for hot coil, pickling steel, plate and H-beam under firm demand in Asia. The director Kiyoshi Imamura said the export profitability is getting better under lower yen rate and strong offshore market. The firm tries to increase the export price more depending on the market.

The firm restarted the export in February. The firm got order for small projects with 500-1,000 tonnes of steel use to larger projects with 5,000-10,000 tonnes of steel use. The export price is FOB US$ 670-680 per tonne for hot coil, US$ 700-710 for pickling steel and US$ 780-790 for H-beam for April and May shipment while some of the orders were priced at US$ 700 for hot coil and US$ 800 for H-beam. The firm tries to increase the price higher level.

Tokyo Steel sees domestic market also improves. The firm already increased the selling price of concrete reinforcing steel bar and H-beam for projects on February 27. Japanese steel makers try to shift the sales weight to offshore market when the international market price increases while domestic steel supply is still loose. The firm expects domestic supply balance gets better for price improvement.
