Japan Cu Official Price Hits Year High

JX Nippon Mining & Metals announced on Monday the firm increases the official copper ingot price by 30,000 yen to 740,000 yen per tonne for February shipment. The price renewed the year high price on February 10. The firm reflects higher offshore copper price and lower yen exchange rate. The monthly averaged price increased by 4,300 yen to 707,100 yen without any more revision in February.

Copper price was US$ 8,441 per tonne at settlement of London Metal Exchange on Friday. The price was US$ 116 higher than the price on Wednesday, based on which JX Nippon Mining & Metals revised the price. The LME price increased to more than US$ 8,500 at afternoon session on Friday due to speculating money under worldwide monetary ease. Lower yen rate, which decreased to 82.29 yen per US dollar at telegraphic transfer selling rate on Monday, pushed Japanese official copper price.
