Japan Primary Al Premium Talk Starts for April-June

Japanese copper scrap market is slow. The market price is flat around Tokyo and Osaka. Japanese theoretical official copper ingot price is around 703,000 yen per tonne compared with actual official price of 700,000 yen under depreciation of yen exchange rate. However, the scrap deal is slow.

No.1 copper wire scrap price is 615-625 yen per kilogram around Tokyo. The price is 610-620 yen around Osaka. The dealers are reluctant to purchase at 625 yen or more when the scrap buyers reduce the purchase volume in March due to fiscal yearend.

New cutting copper scrap price is 590-600 yen per kg and standard copper scrap is 565-575 yen around Tokyo. The price is 585-595 yen for new cutting copper scrap and 545-555 yen for standard grade scrap around Osaka. Lower grade scrap price is 545-555 yen for smelters around Tokyo. A dealer said certain trading firm purchases the scrap at more than 580 yen.

New cutting brass scrap is 435-445 yen per kg and brass turning scrap is 380-390 yen around Tokyo. The price is around 430 yen for brass new cutting scrap around Osaka. A dealer around Tokyo said the turning scrap price is maximum 395 yen for large lot with 5 tonnes or more.
