Japan Colored Al Shipment Drops by 10.5% in 2011

Japanese colored aluminium shipment decreased by 10.5% to 20,626 tonnes in 2011 from 2010, announced by Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment decreased for the first time in 2 years when the shipment decreased by about 30% for electronics due to personal computer overstock under economy slowdown.

The shipment for electronics apparently decreased after Japanese stimulus package ended for eco-friendly appliance purchase in March 2011. The shipment was steady in 2010 when the subsidy lifted colored aluminium shipment for digital appliance and computer parts.

The shipment for transport machine including automobile increased by 3.9% to 8,102 tonnes in 2011 from 2010. The shipment was slow just after the major earthquake in March but supply chain recovered earlier than expected. However, slower shipment for electronics impacted on the total shipment.
