JFE Steel Enhances Technology Service System for Oil Well Pipe

JFE Steel announced on Wednesday the firm enhanced technology service system for oil well steel pipe in collaboration with Marubeni-Itochu Steel. They establish a new service base in Houston, the U.S.A. following the existent Singaporean base. They provide technical services to meet worldwide customers’ requests for higher quality and technology of oil well pipes. JFE Steel plans to increase the production ratio of high grade oil well steel pipe by 1.6 times to 80% three years later.

JFE Tubular Technical Center (JFETC), Singaporean technology service base for oil well pipe jointly controlled by JFE Steel and Marubeni-Itochu Steel, has three branches in Dubai, Beijing and London and deploys the services in Asia, Middle East and CIS. JFETC is operated by six staffs.

U.S. new base in Houston covers North, Middle and South Americas with four staffs. JFETC has covered Asia and Oceania areas while JFE Steel and Marubeni-Itochu Steel had needed independent operations in other areas.

Chita iron works of JFE Steel currently produces oil will pipe at 160,000 tonnes per year. High grade products account for about 50% against the total production.
