NSSC to Leave Flat Stainless Steel Price Unchanged for January

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC) announced on Tuesday the firm leaves selling price of cold rolled stainless steel sheet and plate unchanged for the dealers for January order.

The firm leaves alloy charge unchanged for January order when averaged nickel price in December was same as November level. The firm leaves the stainless base price unchanged. The firm leaves the selling price for 2 months in a row after the firm reduced the alloy charge for the cold rolled sheet by 5,000 yen per tonne for November order.

NSSC sees cold rolled stainless sheet demand is increasing when Japanese chrome series cold rolled sheet shipment is same as a year earlier level, according to national association of stainless steel coil centers. The coil centers’ nickel series cold rolled sheet shipment in October-November was around 95% of a year earlier level. The firm sees the inventory is decreasing when the stock held by the coil centers decreased to less than 2 months. The firm sees the plate shipment is firm for small lot cut processed material application and the firm expects steady demand for renovation.
