Ferrous scrap market price is flat at 25,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is around 23,000 yen around Tokyo. The price is peaking when some of steel makers reduced the purchase price.
The dealers pay 26,800 yen per tonne for H1 grade scrap and 28,500 yen for HS grade around Tokyo. Local steel makers pay 31,500-33,000 yen for H2 grade. The steel makers’ purchase price is almost flat since mid-December while they increased purchase volume at even higher price before. The dealers also keep the purchase price. Electric furnace steel makers pay 32,000-33,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap around Osaka. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing reduced the scrap purchase price by 500 yen per tonne at Okayama and Takamatsu plants on Friday, which was the first down at Okayama plant since November 5, 2011. Nakayama Steel Products, Kyoei Steel and Godo Steel followed the move to reduce the price by 500 yen.
