Nippon Seisen to Increase Thai Plant’s Capacity by 30%

Japanese major stainless steel wire maker, Nippon Seisen increases production at Thai subsidiary, Thai Seisen. Nippon Seisen will transfer stainless steel wire making facilities from Nagoya plant to Thai Seisen by autumn 2012 to increase the Thai production capacity by 30%. The firm eyes Thai subsidiary’s plant expansion to increase the capacity.

Nippon Seisen is increasing production capacity of offshore plants in Thailand and China when Japanese stainless steel wire demand already hit peak. Thai Seisen shifts the production to high value added products while the firm has produced mainly mild steel wire for screw. The subsidiary tries to meet growing demand from transplants of Japanese home appliance and automobile makers in Thailand and neighboring countries.

Nippon Seisen decided to stop stainless steel wire production at Nagoya plant and continues the production at 2 plants of Hirakata plant and Higashi-Osaka plant in Osaka. Nagoya plant will transfer stainless steel wire making facilities to Hirakata plant and Thai Seisen by September 2012. Nagoya plant focuses on diamond saw wire making.
