Japan Compound Semiconductor Shipment Drops by 17% in 1H F2011

Japanese compound semiconductor shipment decreased by 17% to 18.4 billion yen in first half of fiscal 2011 started in April from same period of fiscal 2010, announced by Japan Manufacturers’ Society of Compound Semiconductor Materials (JAMS-CS) on Tuesday. The shipment decreased for main items of gallium arsenide, gallium phosphorus and indium phosphorus.

The gallium arsenide shipment decreased by 15% to 14.3 billion yen in first half of fiscal 2011 from same period of fiscal 2010. The shipment decreased for domestic order and for export due to slower global semiconductor market. The gallium phosphorus shipment decreased by 36% to 2.2 billion yen. The shipment decreased for domestic order and for export. Domestic shipment of indium phosphhorus decreased mainly for optical telecommunication. The total shipment decreased by only 7% to 1.6 billion yen when the export increased.
