Al Alloy Makers Cut Scrap Price in Tokyo for 2H of December

Aluminium scrap dealers agreed with secondary alloyed aluminium makers for aluminium scrap price for second half of December around Tokyo. The price is flat as the first half and decreases by 2-3 yen per kilogram for some items. The scrap price and shipment remains slow toward yearend.

The dealers tried to keep the aluminium scrap selling price for second half of December citing tight supply. The secondary alloyed aluminium makers tried to reduce the scrap price by 4-5 yen per kg under lower offshore primary aluminium ingot price.

The alloyed aluminium makers’ purchase price decreased by 2-3 yen to around 105 yen per kg for used beverage can scrap. The demand of UBC remains low when used can remelting ingot makers cannot make money at the scrap cost. One remelting maker source said the maker cannot secure the profit when used beverage can scrap price is more than 100 yen.
