Japan Import Flat Steel Stock Decreases by 5.3% in November

Hanwa announced on Thursday Japanese quay inventory if imported flat steels decreased by 10,000 tonnes or 5.3% to 177,000 tonnes in Tokyo and Osaka at the end of November from a month ago. The inventory decreased for the first time in 3 months due to slightly less volume of import arrivals. However, by year-to-year comparison, the inventory was higher by 38,000 tonnes or 27.3%.

In Osaka area, the inventory decreased by 10,000 tonnes or 9.0% to 97,000 tonnes from a month earlier. By items, steel plate kept flat at 7,000 tonnes while hot rolled coil decreased by 10,000 tonnes or 7.5% to 31,000 tonnes. Cold rolled coil kept flat at 59,000 tonnes.

In Tokyo, the inventory kept flat at 80,000 tonnes from a month ago. By items, steel plate kept flat at 9,000 tonnes, hot rolled coil increased by 4.4% or 2,000 tonnes to 47,000 tonnes, and cold rolled coil decreased by 7.6% or 2,000 tonnes to 24,000 tonnes.
