Sakai Kouhan to Open Vietnam Flat Rolled Steel Sales Company

Osaka based coil center, Sakai Kouhan got approval from Vietnamese government to reorganize local office into wholly-owned flat rolled steel selling subsidiary with US$ 500,000 of capital. The subsidiary will trade imported over rolled flat steel from Japan and local steel makers’ material for Vietnamese dealers and construction industry. The firm eyes potential local flat rolled steel processing business including coil center.

Sakai Kouhan’s steel processing volume is around 180,000 tonnes per year in western Japan. The firm has a subsidiary in Bangladesh and an office in Guangzhou, China. The firm opened the Vietnamese office in Ho Chi Minh in March 2009 to seek local market information for flat rolled steel export from Japan. The firm decided to reorganize the office to meet growing flat rolled steel demand in Vietnam.
