Kobe Steel’s trading affiliate, Shinsho Corporation tries to increase ferrous scrap trade volume to around 1.3 million tonnes by fiscal 2015 ending in March 2016. The firm tries to increase the volume by around 30% to around 800,000 tonnes in fiscal 2011 from fiscal 2010. The firm tries to expand domestic stock yard network and international trading.

Shinsho Corporation has 8 domestic scrap yards. The firm supports the scrap dealer partners through the maximum 50,000 tonnes of storage capacity at the yards. The firm increases the scrap trading by providing services including financing, storage and risk hedge for the dealer partners.

Shinsho Corporation mainly supplies the scrap for Kobe Steel and Japanese major electric furnace steel makers of Kyoei Steel and Osaka Steel. Shinsho Corporation uses the yards to improve stable supply for the users as well. The firm tries to improve the scrap screening process to increase the international trading including trade between foreign countries.

A main scrap user of Kyoei Steel will add steel making plant to the Vietnamese steel bar and wire rod rerolling affiliate by 2013. Shinsho Corporation eyes support for the upstream operation by supplying scrap for the plant through cooperation with local partners.
