Onamba Starts Consumer Electronics Wire Harness Production in Cambodia

Osaka based electric wire and harness maker, Onamba started commercial production of wiring harness for consumer electronics at a new plant in Cambodia this month. The plant construction had started in last spring and completed in late September. Onamba plans to increase the employee number at the plant to around 400 until the end of December. This is the first productive operation in Cambodia for Onamba Group.

Onamba’s 100% subsidiary headed in Yokohama, ASLE Corporation established a wholly-owned subsidiary inside an industrial estate in Sihanoukville City, Cambodia in April 2011. The plant started commercial operation on November 1.

The factory’s floor space is 4,800 square meters on the site of approximately 20,000 square meters. Onamba Group totally invested approximately 200 million yen for the construction and facilities. There are 230 employees working at present.

The plant purchases electric wires, connectors and terminals, those which are components for wiring harnesses, from Japanese component makers’ offshore sites in Southeast Asia through ASLE Corp’s other subsidiary in Singapore. Completed wiring harnesses are sold to Japan, Europe and America through ASLE Corp’s Singaporean company.

Cambodian plant manufactures wide line-up of wiring harnesses for electric appliances. The second factory may be constructed on the site within 2-3 years along with the demand conditions.

Onamba Group has operated productive sites in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia in Southeast Asia. The firm also started OEM (original equipment manufacturing) of wiring harness in Laos last year. Onamba has steadily expanded overseas productive network.
