Japanese major electric furnace steel maker, Yamato Steel reduces H-beam selling price by 3,000 yen per tonne for shipment on December 3. The firm reduces the price by 5,000 yen for channel steel and I-beam for December order. Sumitomo Metal Industries’ electric furnace subsidiary, Sumikin Steel & Shapes reduces H-beam selling price by 3,000 yen for dealers for December production compared with the price in November.
They reduce selling price for December to meet weak steel market price and lower ferrous scrap price. However, they see the demand is increasing and the dealers’ inventory is decreasing. They wait the timing to increase the selling price when ferrous scrap price shows sign of rebound. Yamato Steel reduced selling price by 3,000 yen per tonne for H-beam for November shipment and by 5,000 yen for channel and I-beam for November order.
