Maruichi Steel Tube Constructs Steel Tube Processing Plant in Tohoku

Maruichi Steel Tube, Japanese major steel tube maker, plans to construct a steel tube processing plant in South Kitakami industry estate in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. The firm already acquired a factory site with 10,763 square meters and will start construction in March 2012. Operation will start in August 2012. The firm will install 5 band saws and invest approximately 700 million yen for the new plant. The firm stocks, cuts and delivers steel tube products for spot demand of small and quick delivery, mainly for automobiles and building constructions in Tohoku area.

In Tohoku area, Central Motor, the subsidiary of Toyota Motor, started Miyagi factory and Toyota Motor plans to construct an engine plant in Miyagi Prefecture. Maruichi Steel Tube has supplied steel tube products for automobiles in Tohoku area from Tokyo and stocked and shipped the products except for automobile from Sendai sales base of Maruichi Kohan, the subsidiary of Maruichi Steel Tube, to Tohoku area.

Maruichi Steel Tube decided construction of a processing plant because the firm fulfills automobile and auto component makers’ requests to deliver steel tube products just-in-time while follows the demand for building construction mainly for reconstruction from the Great East japan Earthquake.
