Indonesia Asahan Aluminium Posts Higher Sales

Japanese aluminium smelters and trading firms funded PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium announced the firm’s sales increased by 21% to US$ 578 million in fiscal 2010 ended March 2011 from fiscal 2009. The averaged aluminium ingot selling price increased by 21% while the output and sales volume of aluminium ingot slightly decreased. The recurring profit decreased by 12% to US$ 124 million due to higher raw material cost. The net profit decreased by 8.9% to US$ 92 million.

The ingot output decreased by 2,000 tonnes to second high volume of 254,000 tonnes in fiscal 2010 from the record in fiscal 2009. The ingot sales decreased by 1,000 tonnes to 254,000 tonnes with US$ 2,274 per tonne of averaged selling price. The firm posted US$ 19 million of profit carried forward at the end of March compared with US$ 73 million of carried forward loss at the beginning of the fiscal year.
