Japan Official Cu Ingot Price Increases by 60,000 yen/t

JX Nippon Mining & Metals announced on Tuesday the firm increased the official copper ingot price by 60,000 yen to 620,000 yen per tonne for October shipment. The firm increased the price just after the firm reduced the price on Friday. The firm reflects large rebound of offshore copper price. The monthly averaged official price increased by 15,000 yen to 602,000 yen without any more revision.

Copper price increased by US$ 464 to US$ 7,380.50 per tonne at settlement of London Metal Exchange on Monday from Thursday, based on which JX Nippon Mining & Metals revised the official price. The price increased to US$ 7,600 or more for NY Kerb for 3-month future on Monday. Speculative buying increased due to expectation for additional US action for quantitative monetary easing.

JX Nippon Mining & Metals reduced the official copper ingot price by 70,000 yen per tonne on Friday when LME copper price decreased to less than US$ 7,000 for the first time in 2 weeks.
