Mitsubishi-Hitachi to Set Hyundai Hysco’s New Cold Line

Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery received order of continuous pickling line and tandem cold rolling mill with annual 1.5 million tonnes of production capacity from Hyundai Hysco for Dangjin plant in South Korea. Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery’ already started the work to set PL-TCM, with which Hyundai Hysco makes mainly automotive flat steel. Hyundai Hysco targets test operation in January 2013 and hot run in May 2013.

Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery designed 6 Hi UCM mill with 6 strands for the first in the world to make ultra high tensile steel. The mill can make sheet with 0.3-2.3 millimeters thick with 800-1,650 mm width. Hyundai Hysco will spend 922 billion won for the construction second plant including PL-TCM in Dangjin. The South Korean steel re-roller launched the groundwork in September and Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery will set the line in July 2012.

Steel plant making divisions of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi merged to form the world’s top hot rolling and cold rolling mill supplier for steel and nonferrous metal industries in October 2000. Before the merger, Hitachi supplied continuous galvanizing line and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries set pickling galvanizing line for Dangjin plant of Hyundai Hysco and Hitachi provided tandem cold rolling mill and CGL for Suncheon plant of the South Korean re-roller.
