Hanwa Opens Metallic Silicon Process Plant in Dalian

Hanwa Co. started commercial production at metallic silicon processing plant, Dalian Solar Valley Silicon Industry. The firm established the crushing and grinding joint venture with Heihe Yangguang Weiye Silicon Material. The joint venture held opening ceremony on Tuesday. The plant supplies materials for growing solar battery.

Hanwa’s chairman Shuji Kita said metallic silicon based solar power industry should grow significantly. He emphasized the plant should supply high quality material stably for China, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.

The plant is located in Changxing Island Harbor Industrial Zone. The plant started test operation in November 2010. Hanwa controls 70% of the plant with 30% share by Heihe Yangguang Weiye Silicon Meterial. The plant processes annual 20,000 tonnes of metallic silicon for organic silicon and polycrystal silicon.

Hanwa established new sales company in Dalian on October 1 while Hanwa launched Dalian office in 2005. Hanwa expands the local business through the new company along with the new processing plant. Hanwa also incorporates offices in Beijing and Qingdao to expand Chinese business.
