Sumitomo Metals’ Stainless Boiler Tube Firstly Adopted to Combined Cycle Power Generator

Sumitomo Metal industries’ steel tube department currently accepted orders for high grade stainless boiler tube, TP347HFG and SUPER304H, used for exhaust heat recovery boiler of combined cycle electric power generation. This is the first order acceptance of the products for this kind of application. Sumitomo Metals has originally developed high grade stainless boiler tube which can endure under supercritical pressure with above 600 Celsius degrees and above 24 MPa steam pressure of coal fired power generation.

Sumitomo Metals accepted an order for TP347HFG at 100 tonnes from a domestic user and shipped the products in June. TP347HFG was selected due to its high intensity and high corrosion resistance performance. TP347HFG realizes high anti-oxidation property and high-temperature strength when used for heat exchanger of boiler for fired electric power generation. TP347HFG was registered to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for the first time as Japanese steel tube.

SUPER304H was ordered at 40 tonnes by an overseas user in September, used for supercritical pressure electric power generation. SUPER304H can contribute to CO2 reduction by improving power generating efficiency largely and reducing fuel gas.

Sumitomo Metals constructed a new factory dedicated to stainless boiler tube inside Steel Tube Works, Hyogo, Japan in 2007 and established supply capacity at 18,000 tonnes per year.
