Japan Rolled Al Output Decreases for 3 Straight Months

Japanese rolled aluminium output decreased by 1.0% to 152,074 tonnes in August from a year earlier, announced by Japan Aluminium Association on Wednesday. The shipment decreased by 1.5% to 154,684 tonnes. Both the output and the shipment decreased for 3 months in a row due to weak demand for flat products. The extrusions recorded first increase in 5 months for both the output and the shipment due to recovery of car output.

The flat products output and shipment represented year-on-year decrease for 3 months in a row through August due to lower can material demand. The can material shipment decreased by 4.6% to 33,478 tonnes in August from a year earlier, which decreased for the first time in 4 months.

The extrusion output and shipment increased in August from a year earlier. The shipment increased by 12.1% to 39,862 tonnes for construction.

The foil output represented year-on-year increase for 4 months in a row thorough August while the shipment decreased for the first time in 3 months.
