International GO Electrical Steel Price to Rebound

International grain oriented electrical steel market price would rebound while the price decreased since summer. The demand is increasing for lower core loss products in India when Indian authorities would tighten the requirement of the specification to improve energy efficiency. The demand would increase more for high grade products in 2012 when large power plants construction start mainly in 2012.

Japanese integrated steel makers including Nippon Steel increased grain oriented electrical steel export price by US$ 30-50 per tonne for October-December while the steel makers offered US$ 150 hike. Some Indian buyers accepted higher price hike.

However, the integrated steels’ profitability is still severe with high raw materials cost. Japanese steel makers expect they can increase the electrical steel export price by hundreds dollars per tonne by March 2012 under tight supply.
