JFE Steel Provides New Order and Inventory Management System

JFE Steel developed new management system named Smile Port to provide information of orders and inventories in progress at steel works and distributing sites. The firm digitalized mill sheets for some of steel products such as steel plate by this system. Smile Port will also be provided in Chinese and Korean until March 2012 in addition to present Japanese and English for offshore customers.

Customers can confirm order details, order progresses, delivery information, custom clearance procedures, shipment conducts and product qualities by Smile Port. These information is integrated by Smile Port and thus customers are relieved of individual confirmation with concerned people or access to individual system.

Customers can collect necessary information into one screen and share the information with other users on web. Steel users and distributors can pick up important notices such as delivery lead time or quality confirmation by themselves and see the information on their mobile devices. More than one hundred Japanese and offshore companies have registered the service so far.

JFE Steel plans to promote mill sheet digitalization for more steel items and to improve functions of Smile Port such for mutual information share with domestic and overseas customers in order to advance supply chain management.
