Stable Rare Metals Market

International market price increase of rare metal is slowing recently. Cerium oxide price decreased from overheated level while the price is still high for metallic neodymium and tungsten. However, the price could increase again when the major supplier of China would reduce the export.

Metallic neodymium price is as high as US$ 450 per kilogram. Some of the offer is more than US$ 460 but Japanese buyers are reluctant to buy at the high price, according to domestic trading firm source. Domestic magnet makers import the metal in ferroalloys.

Ammonium paratungstate price is record high of around US$ 460 per 10 kg of tungsten trioxide. The increase was stopped but the price is expected to keep firm under strong demand for cemented carbide tool.

Cerium oxide price is US$ 111.5 per, which decreased by 30% in a month. The price increased to 10 times in a year due to tight supply from China and speculative purchase. However, the overvalued price is adjusted with development projects in other areas than China.

Cobalt price is US$ 16.8 per pound, which is 12% higher than a month ago. The price increases when magnet demand shifts to alnico magnet with cobalt under price surge for rare earth.
