Flat Al Scrap Price in Tokyo

Aluminium scrap market price is flat with wait-and-see mood around Tokyo. The scrap dealers and secondary aluminium alloy makers started the price negotiation for first half of September on Monday. The makers try to reduce the scrap purchase price when the makers could not fully reduce the price for late half of August. The dealers try to set the scrap selling price unchanged when the scrap supply remains low.

The scrap demand is firm for domestic users. However, one dealer source said some secondary aluminium alloy makers limit the purchase of low grade scrap including alloy turning scrap, aluminium sash scrap and foundry scrap. The source sees the makers reduce the scrap purchase volume at plant with low operation rate while the makers’ order receipt seems to be high for September.

The dealers’ scrap shipment stays at low level due to low supply. Dealer sources see the scrap supply would increase from industry in late September.
