TMC Starts Rare Metal Briquette Production for Steel Making

Osaka based rare metal scrap dealer and recycler, Town Mining Co. (TMC) starts production of rare metal briquette for steel making. The productive line will be constructed inside the main yard in Kouga City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The construction work will complete and the production will start in mid October.

TMC plans to produce briquette of nickel, tungsten, cobalt and molybdenum which is used as additives for stainless steel and special steel. The production volume will total approximately 200 tonnes per month.

TMC has collected and processed rare metal and other metal scrap. The firm aims better quality control and shorter delivery lead time by starting integrated self-production of briquette. TMC cooperates with the partner company, to which TMC has committed briquette processing so far, and projects the recycling business expansion.

TMC will introduce two granulators, two low-temperature carbonizers and one mesh belt dryer. The capital expenditure is 231 million yen, a half of which is covered by the subsidy from Ministry of Economy, Trade & Economy (METI).
