Japan Nonferrous Metals Output Drops From June

Japanese nonferrous metals statistics represented year-on-year decrease for 15 items among 20 items in July, which worsened by 2 items from June, announced by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Thursday. The nonferrous demand was impacted by the major earthquake.

Japanese nonferrous metals output decreased by 5.3% to 107,464 tonnes for aluminium rolled products in July from a year earlier. Aluminium extrusion output decreased by 1.3% to 60,532 tonnes while the inventory increased by 18.2% to 12,200 tonnes.

Electrolytic copper output decreased by 18.6% to 104,991 tonnes in July from a year earlier while the inventory increased by 78.9% to 64,375 tonnes. The output decreased from a year earlier. However, the range of decrease improved by around 5 percentage points from June.
