Japan Tin Plate Dealers Increases Sales Price by 20,000 y/t

Japanese dealers increased the selling price of cut tin plate by 20,000 yen per tonne, which passed increased purchase price of tin plate when steel makers increased tin plate price by 20,000 yen per tonne from April shipping. Dealers started price hike in the last half of June, and completed price hike of inventory products until July and completed price hike for specific users until the middle-August. On the other hand, it required time dealers’ inventory products price changes to new price when major users, can makers, decreased purchase volume.

Can makers are expected to start price negotiation with users when tin plate price increased and metal printing charge, parts prices and painting cost increases, too. One metal printing company said metal printing charge is expected to increase by average 15% from September 1 shipping.

Tin plate price increased 10 times since 2003. Can makers must pass increased tin plate price on can price including fore past price hike.
