Ferrous Scrap Price Declines by 500 yen in Tokyo

The ferrous scrap market price in the Tokyo area, Eastern Japan, declined around 500 yen per tonne following fall of the export price. The purchase prices of the wholesalers who process ferrous scrap and supply electric furnace steel makers with the processed products are around 13,500 yen per tonne for H2 and around 17,500 yen per tonne for HS. The purchase prices of Japan ferrous scrap by offshore steel makers decline gradually. The wholesalers lower the cost prices, too. The shipping values for export of ferrous scrap (H2) in Tokyo Bay decrease to around 21,000 yen per tonne for F.A.S. and new contract, down 1,500-2,000 yen per tonne compared with the beginning of last December when the higher price was hit. The market price is likely to fall for the time being since there is easing of the supply-demand.
