Successful Tender Price at 25,240 yen/t for Ferrous Scrap Export in April

The ferrous scrap dealers’ association in Osaka area held the export tender for April shipping. The contracted volume was 5,000 tonnes mainly including H2 and the successful tender price became FAS 25,240 yen per tonne. The price was 750 yen higher than the averaged successful bid at the export tender held by Kanto Tetsugen on February 9, and 270 yen higher than the successful bid at the tender held by another Osaka’s scrap dealers group on February 22.Arae Shokai, the trading house of ferrous scrap, made a successful bid for April shipping. Ferrous scrap will be shipped during April 1-28. Bidders were 16 firms and 3 firms withdrew.The market price of ferrous scrap is flat with potential increase in Osaka area. The price is around 11,000 yen per tonne for H2.Local electric furnace steel makers purchase ferrous scrap at around 23,000-24,000 yen per tonne for H2, while the highest price is 24,500 yen. Some dealer sources say the makers might set the purchase prices unchanged even regarding the export trend in March. Other dealer sources say the ferrous scrap price would keep flat for a while in Osaka market. However, the price seems to increase with little collection of ferrous scrap in the market.
