Toyota Tsusho Aims New Growth by Combining Tomen

Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Tomen Corporation integrated their businesses and organizations on April 1. The consolidated net sales of new Toyota Tsusho would become 6th scale among Japanese trading houses. Junzo Shimizu, president and representative director of new Toyota Tsusho, told the strategy for the new growth as the affiliate of Toyota global group.Mr. Shimizu said new Toyota Tsusho estimates 6 trillion yen of the consolidated net sales and 97 billion yen of the recurring profit in fiscal 2006 ending March 2007 with 26.748 billion yen of the capital, total 388 affiliates and about 20,000 employees. Mr. Shimizu aims to increase the sales of both auto and non-auto-related businesses, especially increasing the sales ratio of non-auto-related businesses from current 34% to 50% toward 2015. He said the firm aims 8.7 trillion yen of the net sales, 160 billion yen of the recurring profit and 100 billion yen of the net profit in fiscal 2010 ending March 2011.Toyota Tsusho and Tomen already integrated their metal businesses 5 years ago. Mr. Shimizu said the sales of steel export expanded to 160 billion yen from 60 billion yen thanks to the business merger. He indicated Toyota Tsusho could develop more customers thanks to the integration along with the existent credit worthiness.
