Sumitomo Titanium to Expand Polycrystal Silicon Output

Sumitomo Titanium Corporation announced on Thursday the firm will expand polycrystal silicon output capacity from annual 900 tonnes to 1,300 tonnes for 5.4 billion yen. The firm starts shipment from the new operation in July to meet higher demand for silicon wafer of semiconductor. The firm increases a converter furnace to total 4, 2 columns still to total 11 and a reduction furnace to total 7. The firm also expands the capacity of recovering and processing while additional accessory equipments. World polycrystal silicon supply keeps short for growing demand for solar battery along with recovering demand for semiconductor since 2005 after the slump.
