Japan Ferroalloy Import Value Jumps by 16.8B yen in F2005

Japanese ferroalloy import increased by more than 16.8 billion yen to 421.2 billion yen for fiscal 2005 ended March 2006 from fiscal 2004, according to Ministry of Finance. The import unit value increased for ferrochrome, ferromolybdenum, ferrotungsten and ferrovanadium while the price dropped for manganese and silicon ferroalloy. The import unit value of ferrovanadium surged to 2.6 times at more than 5.71 million yen per tonne at CIF Japan for fiscal 2005 from fiscal 2004. The import value increased by 20.2 billion yen. The unit value of ferrochrome increased by 12% and the total value increased by 10.8 billion yen. The unit value of ferromolybdenum increased by 49% and the total value increased by 6.8 billion yen.
