Hitachi Cable to Keep Copper Products Output Level in 1H

Hitachi Cable announced on Wednesday the firm plans to produce 7,850 tonnes of copper and copper alloy fabricated products per month in half year to September 2006 in line with same period of 2005. The firm plans to increase the copper strip output by 4% when the demand keeps recovering for semiconductor while the firm will reduce the copper tube and rolled copper products for electrical use by 2%. Hitachi Cable also announced the output of copper and copper alloy fabricated products increased by 2% to 7,956 tonnes per month in fiscal 2005 ended March 2006 from fiscal 2004. The production turned to recovery in the second half of fiscal 2005, though the output was low in the first half due to slow inventory adjustment in semiconductor market.
